"Manitoulin Illustrated" is a continuing series of illustrated history magazines designed to give the Island's past a distinct voice in the ever-changing world of the present. It is our pleasure to bring our history to life using a combination of "Facts, Fiction and Folklore" in a fully illustrated format.

Our first issue focuses on the area surrounding Bridal Veil Falls in Kagawong, one of the island's most beautiful natural wonders. Not only do we cover the early history of Kagawong with the Henry Brothers' Mill and the Mudge Bay Lighthouse, but also intriguing and little-known tales, such as the Waterhouse piano and other island facts, like the history of maple syrup and sugaring, the disappearance of formally native species of flora and fauna and the comic tale of "Horse Island". There's even some spooky folklore in the form of puzzling events from the Allen line and much, much more!

All of the art for Manitoulin Illustrated Volume 1 was created by well known Manitoulin Island artist Jack Whyte, with story contributions by Sue Priddle, Jack Whyte and best-selling author Dylon Whyte.
